Paeonia 'Xiang Ya Bai'

type: [tree peony] – [suffruticosa group] – [rockii-hybrid] - [Gansu mudan]

Xiang Ya Bai

To be called ”Xiang Ya Bai” in Chinese, with characteristics of milk white bloom, resembling the silk chou, 15cm×7cm corolla , stiff petals with numerous dentiform clefts resembling a indention, slightly twisted petals with rose color base speckles. A few stamens are mixed up within petals with white filaments and yellow anther. The five full-grown or degenerative pistils are pea green with milk yellow stigmas, fully wrapped and milk white floral disc. The 14 lobules are bottle green with fewer tomentas and having its leafstalks to be concave and maple, among them,5 lobules to be distributed at the top and 9 for two sides. The yearling branches are about 22 cm in length, having medium stiffness and a few spouts. It has medium and later blooming date and to be traditional and costful variety.
