Paeonia 'Xiao Xia' / 'Xiao Xie'

type: [tree peony] – [suffruticosa group] – [China central plains cultivar group]

Osti (1997)

XIAO XIE, «Neve soave».

Osti (1999)

XIAO XIE "Soft Snow" A Paeonia rockii variety from Gansu that has become double to fully double on cultivation. Flowers: white with purple blotches at the base of the petals; double, very numerous petals and petaloids with ragged edges, the petaloids being irregularly interspersed among the few remaining stamens, late flowering.

I'm not sure if Xiao Xie in Gian Lupo Osti's book and Xiao Xia in the publications of Cheng, Li and McLewin are identical. The pictures show some very similar cultivars. If so, than McLewin's dates for the breeding are not correct.
