Quantitative determination of paeonol content in oriental pharmaceutical decotions containing moutan bark by ion-pair high-performance liquid chromatography.

Natural Medicines, v. 52(2):p. 116-123, 1998 (Eng; 12 ref).

Method using high performance liquid chromatographywith 10mM tetra-n-amylammonium bromide (as an ion-regent)-CH3CN (75:25,pH6.8) and an ODS column was established for the better separation of paeonol. This method was applied to 15 kinds of oriental pharmaceutical decoctions containing moutan bark (bark of Paeonia moutan). From 13 of them, paeonol was detected within 30 min without interference from co-existing components. The other two decoctions, i.e. Kamishouyou- san-go-shimtsu-to and Keishibukuryo-gan, however, needed separation by a gradient method.
