Remontant Flowers

(called Kan Botan) were created in Japan over 300 years ago. Their winter flowers are smaller than the spring ones and the leaves do not develop fully, remaining purplish red. The winter flowers therefore look different from the spring ones. The flowers are classified into as:

large	11-13cm
medium	9 - 11 cm
small	8 - 10 cm

A single winter flower lasts ten days and the next flower opens at a somewhat long interval. Early bloomers flower in November, midseasons in December and late-midseasons from December to January.

		Kin'no	Outer 2-5 petals rimmed with creamy white. White vertical stripes on 1- 3 outer petals. Reddish black flares at the base of petals. Small size. Early midseason. Winter blooming late November to mid-January.
		Taishoko	Medium size. Red stigmas and sheath. Early midseason. Winter blooming late November to mid-January.
		Hinomihata	Medium size. Stigmas and sheath red. Early midseason. Winter blooming late November to mid-January.

		Sangokai	Medium size. Reddish black flares at the base of petals. Red stigmas and sheath. Early midseason. Winter blooming late November to mid -January. Broad leaflets.
		Togawakan	Small size. Red stigmas and sheath. Midseason. Winter blooming late November to mid-January. The photograph shows a spring flower.
		Kurikawako	Medium size. Reddish black flares at the base of petals. Reddish purple stigmas and sheath. Early mid season. Winter blooming late November to mid-January. Broad leaflets.
		Kasugayama	Large size. Early midseason. Winter blooming late November to mid-January.
		Shutoko	Medium size. Light reddish-purple stigmas and sheath. Early blooming. Winter flower in November- December.
		Kanshiko	Botan colour. Medium size. Early midseason. Winter blooming late November to mid-January.
		Shiguregumo	Outer 2 3 petals rimmed with creamy whitle Reddish purple flares at the base of petals. Small size. Light reddish-purple stigmas and sheath. Early midseason. Winter blooming late November to mid-January
		Shin-togen	Botan colour Purplish black flares at base of petals. Medium size. Reddish purple stigmas and sheath. Winter blooming late November to mid-January.
		Hoseiko	Darkish red. Red-black flares at base of petals. Medium size. Red stigmas and sheath. Midseason. Winter blooming late November to mid-January.
		Simane Muregarasu	Darkish red. Medium size. Midseason Winter blooming late November to mid-January
		Fuyugarasu	Dark colour of reddish purple. Small size. Light reddish-purple stigmas and sheath. Midseason. Winter blooming late November to mid-January.
		Yukigasane	Medium size. Late midseason. Winter blooming in December-January.
		Hakuho	Large size. White stigmas and exposed green ovaries. Winter blooming in December - January
