NORTHERN CROWN (Saunders) - Hybrid. Quadruple hybrid: albiflora, officinalis, macrophylla, and Mlolosewitschi. 1955 letter from Miss Saunders says to be introduced.

NORTHLAND (Auten, 1952) - Double - White - Very Early. Tall. Rose fragrant. Very early high built bomb, my earliest white double. Stiff stems, and a strong grower. Fine fur cutting and should prove of great value for commercial flower growers. A standout in the field when in bloom with most other kinds still in green bud. Auten's 1955 catalog and letter.

NOSEGAY (Saunders, 1950) - Single - Salmon Pink - Hybrid. Small pale salmon pink and ivory. Mlokosewitschi x tenuifolia. List in Bulletin 129.

NOVA (Saunders, 1950) - First called OLGA. Yellow - Hybrid. A strain. Flowers clear pale yellow, but foliage like macrophylla; large broad and glossy. About 2 ½" tall, these are good growers and set seed well, many of the offspring coming in pale yellow. Mlokosewitschi x macrophylla, second generation. Saunders 1955 catalog. Date from Saunders 1950-51 catalog.

NYMPH - See THE NYMPH. Double - White - Midseason.

NYMPHAEA (Thurlow, 1919) - Double - White - Midseason. Medium height. Mildly fragrant. Large. Creamy white, flushed pale rose-pink on first opening; symmetrical, cupped form with a small tuft in the center and many stamens which diffuse a golden yellow light throughout the flower; medium height. Profuse bloomer, stiff stems. Good foliage. The form of the flower is more semi-double than rose." Fewkes. M.

OBOKI (Pfeiffer, 1937) - Jap. - Rosy Red - List in Bulletin 91.

OCTAVIE DEMAY (Calot, 1867) - Double - Pink - Early. Dwarf. Not especially fragrant. Large. Guards very light old-rose-pink and the somewhat darker crown, which develops early, is splashed with a few crimson markings; collar distinct, composed of narrow, almost white petals, very floriferous, stiff stems. Abundant foliage. M.

ODALISQUE (Lemoine, 1923) - Double - Pink to white. Late midseason. Medium height. Rose scented. Large, waved outer petals, faintly tinted pink, surround a compact, cupped center of pure-cream-white, vigorous. M.

ODETTE (Dessert, 1908) - Double - Pink - DISCARDED - Midseason.

ODILE (Doriat, 1928) - Double - Flesh-Pink - Late Midseason. Large white sphere with lilac tinted center. List in Bulletin 91.

OFUGI (Origin unknown) - Jap. - Flush-White - DISCARDED.

OHANAGASA (Origin unknown) - Jap. - Violet-Red - Midseason.

OHIRAMA (Origin unknown) - Jap. - Carmine tinged purple. Height 2'. Sweetly fragrant. Very large. Guards bright rose-pink, with a brighter suffusion at the base, center composed of yellow staminodes tinged pink near the tips; carpels green with pink stigmas; growth fairly strong; free-blooming. Foliage medium. M.

OIMATSU (Origin Unknown) Syn. CLARISSE. Jap. - Pink, changing to white.

OIRAKU (Japan) - Red - Double. Big crimson double, great favorite, rare beauty. Smirnow's 1955 catalog.

OKI (Millet) - Jap. - Purplish Carmine - Midseason.

OKINAWA (Origin unknown) - Jap. - Carmine - Midseason.

OLD FORGE (Kelsey, 1936) - Double - Rose-Pink. Tall. High built crown. Medium sized flowers on long, strong stems. List in Bulletin 109.

OLD HUNDREDTH (Auten, 1933) - Double - Creamy White - Late. Very tall. Full double rich creamy white. Comparable to Grace Loomis. Bulletin 54.

OLD IVORY (Glasscock, 1950) - Single - White - Very Early - Hybrid. Creamy white, cup shaped bloom, upright stems, very good. Officinalis Sunbeam x albiflora, 2nd generation. Bulletin 116. List in Bulletin 129.

OLD LACE (Lins, 1945) - Double - White - Early Midseason. Tall. Tall plants with long willowy but adequate stems, each crowned with an 8" or larger, perfectly formed, full double flat bloom, composed of precisely arranged low narrow petals radiating from the center. Color is a beautiful ivory flesh. Lins 1955 catalog.

OLD MAIN (Auten, 1939) - Double - Red - Late - Hybrid. Tall. A large bomb, full petalled. A very brilliant red, with a slight fluish cast that gives it carrying power. Distinct and much admired. Officinalis x albiflora. Bulletin 80. List in Bulletins 91 and 129.

OLD SILVER TIP (Brand. 1918) - Double - Deep Rose-Red - Midseason.

OLD SIWASH (Auten, 1939) - Double - White - Midseason. Good height. Rose fragrant. Opens flesh, fades to pure white; good size, held very stiffly erect; good height. Bulletin 80.

OLGA (Saunders, 1950) Name changed to NOVA. Single - Pale Yellow - Hybrid. Mlokosewitschi x macrophylla. Letter from Miss Saunders, 1955.
